Charging

Minimum charge limit for safety reasons

Sometimes, after enjoying riding our Model 3, we connect the car to our charger at home and we have only 10% of battery charge left. This 10% of battery charge is not enough to drive to the nearest hospital or useful for any other kind of emergency (friends/parents in need, zombie attack). Because I have set Scheduled Departure at 8 a.m. the car will not be charged all evening and most of the night.

This is why I would... more »

Charging

Tesla to Tesla Bump Charge

A dead battery is the worst. Once Tesla designs the new inverters how about adding the ability to bump charge a Tesla with a Tesla so you can get to a nearby charger? Add an S.O.S. button to inform nearby owners you need a bump and offer supercharger credits for being a Good Samaritan. 5% might just save someone hours of hassle and hundreds of dollars.

Charging

Assigned Supercharging Stall Number

Its takes a lot of savvy to know which is the best stall when you get to a SuperCharger. Most people aren't aware of how SuperChargers are paired up for example. And/or it can sometimes be difficult to even know which stall is which b/c the numbers on the stall might have worn off. Or worse, not all stalls are the same (ie, V1, V2, or V3).

The idea would be to simply suggest which stall is the best stall for you. Tesla... more »

Charging

The famous Tesla Home Charger Network

There are many thousand of home charging points of Tesla drivers around the world. All dedicated only to the owner. Why not making this potential easily available to all Tesla drivers if they need a charge when out at a foreign place without a super or destination charger around. With just the following software extensions, this is easily possible:

1) Allow Tesla owners to register their home charging station with the... more »

Charging

CSS to Tesla Adapter

While the Tesla Supercharging network is expanding. There is a need and it should be possible to charge a Tesla at other Direct Current (DC) stations. Especially Electrify America. Tesla vehicles in Europe have a CSS connector. So, it is technically possible. Tesla has a CHAdeMO adapter. Tesla needs to engineer and provide a CSS to Tesla adapter for US Customers.

Charge limit should auto-reset to "safe" value after full charge

Several times I've accidentally charged the car to "full" even when I wasn't planning on using it for several days. This really sucks because:

1. I'm accidentally shortening battery life

2. It might be days before I realize I did it (I don't drive every day) and it makes me feel bad and stupid because it's irreversible.

3. Even when I realize that I did it (which could be days because I don't use the car every day)... more »

Charging

Cybertruck camping

I'd love to see a power-sharing adapter/splitter that maximizes use of the 230 volt (level 2) shore power available at campsites. Provide a smart splitter that prioritizes providing power to the fluctuating needs of the camper, then directs the remaining available amperage to charge the CyberTruck. Similar to how dual headed Clipper Creek chargers or pairs of Superchargers ration the available power to competing variable... more »

Charging

Charge car only with solar energy reported from Smart Inverter

Sometimes, we simply want to top up for free using exactly the amount of solar that the smart inverter is generating - "Follow the sun charging". In this way, use all the free energy, but don't burden the grid either - just a nice little top up.

Idea can be extended to PowerWall stored energy too.

Charging

Charge a Tesla Vehicle Using Direct Current

Right now, if you want to use your own solar panels directly, you have to convert DC to AC, plug-in the mobile charger, then convert it back to DC again for the battery.

Since solar generates electricity as Direct Current, it would be nice to use the on-board inverter or by-pass the conversion completely and just charge the car using direct current.

I think we would need a standardized protocol/pins for using DC.
