No rolling the opposite direction of the gear.

No rolling the opposite direction of the gear. A car in drive can't roll backwards and a car in reverse can't roll forwards.
Whether this is accomplished with a half hold/creep mode or just a "The car always automatically 'Holds' at zero" (no special song and dance with the brake pedal) I'm fine with.
Auto hold at zero is probably the most straight forward. Basically, once the car is going zero only the accelerator can... more »

Disable FWD Pillar Button When Child Protection Lock is Enabled

Problem: the child-protection lock for the falcon wing doors only prevents a child from opening the FWDs. It does not turn off the switch for purposes of closing the doors. Anyone with kids knows that this button is enticing! And they can easily touch the button with their hands or feet (by accident or on purpose).

Solution: Disable this FWD button on the pillar when the child protection lock is enabled.

Ways to Reduce Range Anxiety

-Don't constantly show the nominal range (e.g., the current UI) — it causes worry & isn't accurate
-Periodically fade-in / fade-out projected range, calculated using the average of the 5- and 15-mile avg power consumptions
-Determine if need to show range every 3 minutes, based on whether a significant change in consumption has occurred (or if it's been >10 minutes since last shown)
-If projected range needs to be shown... more »

Disable Forward or Reverse When FWDs are Open

There are a lot of incidents where people damage or destroy their FWD because the door is open and the driver moves the car without realizing.

I thought it might be a good idea to have an option (on/off switch) that, when introduced, defaults to ON, where opening the FWD while in park means the car cannot be taken out of "park" until the door is closed. Probably only Park and Neutral, and both offer more significant... more »

Request Firmware OTA Download Implemented

Background: There are more and more Tesla's on the road, and thus, putting a heavy strain on the LTE network when it comes to firmware downloads. Firmware downloads are prioritized for owners that have their vehicles connected to Wifi. As a result, it can take months before some owners receive OTA updates for their vehicles.

Idea: Create a feature to allow an owner to request a download of the latest firmware for their... more »

Amber Alert Scanning

The idea would be to receive the amber alert signal, and parse it for license plate info and vehicle descriptions. Then use the front facing camera to search for that license plate or vehicle in the surrounding area.

Update: The alert would pop up, and the driver would opt-in to the scanning process.
