When its a hurricane and deep rain is hustling to clear the water off your windshield, it would be nice to teach the wipers to chill a bit when the vehicle comes to a stop.
Auto wipers in the Y and 3 ramp up way too fast. How about making "Auto" toggle On/Off and let us select how aggressive it is using the controls ' '' ''' ''''
It would be handy (and totally lazy of me) to want the car to capture the air conditioning water drip and pump it into the windscreen water bottle, to avoid me/us all from ever filling it up (although this would be less effective in colder climates if the AC isn't used as much....)
1. You can't see well, or at all, while driving.
2. You must fumble with dragging the screen and stabbing at buttons.
3. You must do this while not being able to see well, or at all, while driving.... more »
To prevent damage to wiper mechanism switch the wipers to off in freezing temperatures so they do not get damaged when in auto mode and frozen to the windscreen.
A button for "Wiper off upon exit", Select this to NOT have the wipers function automatically every time you enter the car... Step on the break pedal and have a bunch of snow fall on your lap... Roll down the window to continue talking to someone and not have the wipers push a lap full of water into the window...
When it's raining heavy the fastest speed on the wiper settings is not fast enough. If one more speed was added this would definitely make it safer while driving in the rain.
Double Tap the button for the windshield wiper to quickly toggle between modes (I, II, III, AUTO), intead of going to the screen to change the mode.
Sensitivity setting to wipers auto mode.
Nowadays it usually wipes too much if there is small rain.
Or if it rains only small drops/mist it won't wipe enough.
Since the auto wiper function is AI-based it should quickly understand and remember that when I regularly push the manual wipe button, I want the frequency to increase. How else could it be doing deep learning? This is my only way to tell the algorithm that it waits too long between wiping.
Add rear fog lights like the Model X has for all vehicles. In fog or heavy rain, dust, etc, the only thing other safe way to drive slowly is with flashers on, and no one should have to drive in a way that prevents them from using turn indicators. These should come on automatically when an object approaches quickly from the rear and/or when the highest frequency state of the windshield wipers is active.
Windshield wipers are essentially little mechanical hands that clean your windshield AFTER your vision is compromised. Instead, channel air over the windshield with enough force that rain never touches the glass in the first place.
It's embarrassing that literally the only improvement to wipers since 1896 has been Intermittent Wipers - little mechanical arms that move water only sometimes.
My ideia is to replace the normal windshield blades.
1º - Apply a water repellant to the windshield glass;
2º - Install pressurised air hoses to spit any water that still is on the surface of the windshield.
Obs.: This feature could also be applied to the solar glass, and any solar panel in general... optimising the energy generation potencial.
*Obs.: Also could be applied to the rearview mirrors.
