Smooth out speed changes for Stop and Go

At low speeds in heavy bumper to bumper traffic, I like to engage TACC for safety. However, my passengers hate it because the system currently prioritizes maintaining a distance gap over ride smoothness.

The gap we care about should be one of reaction time, not distance, i.e. the slower we go, the closer we can safely approach the car in front. At 2 mph, we travel ~3 feet per second. The Model 3 is 15 feet long. So... more »

Passive Blindspot Detection Selected trending idea

- When AutoPilot is not activated, and turn signal is activated make a chime or sound play to alert driver to someone existing in blind spot. Similar to the mirror light blind spot functions other cars have. Instead of just a last second avoidance feature or visual on the screen which is not very safe to be looking at whilst driving.
- Could make another kind of "clicking" sound to passively let the driver know someone... more »

Autopilot Modes: Chillax Mode

Just like the only thing past ludicrous speed is plaid, Autopilot needs a mode that is beyond Chill: Chillax. Instead of driving like Walter when he's totally late for a bowling tournament, autopilot in this mode would drive more like Jeff Lebowski: just like totally chill man.

In this mode, autopilot would behave like:
-accelerate slowly as possible (ie, don't spill your beverage man)
-speed limit setting is more of... more »

Park in Garage

I would like a feature where the car autopark in my garage, even if I need to use some kind of markings on the floor to help auto-pilot do it. I'd use everyday and it would be way better than the other auto park features that I never use because they are too slow or require parking conditions I never see out there.

Autopilot

Lane-split mode for carpool lane

Autopilot insists on staying centered in the carpool lane, even in bumper-to-bumper rush-hour traffic. This is dangerous for motorcycles who lane split in the carpool lane; and yet moving the car to the left side of the lane cancels autopilot. 😞

Being able to set a "lane offset" in the driver settings, so that in stop-and-go traffic in the carpool lane, you can have the vehicle hug the left side of the... more »

Autopilot

Traficsign recognition Implemented

The danish speedlimit zones are very different from the zones the autopilot detects. It would be nice if you were able to choose "adapt to actual speed." Or the autopilot adapted to speedlimit shown on the traficsign. It would also be a big help around roadconstruction sites.

Safety

Pothole Detection and Avoidance (aka Deep Pothole) Selected

Develop a new neural net just for potholes dubbed, Deep Pothole (or Deep Hole) purely for detecting potholes in the road. The system would upload pothole location data to the cloud, building a global map of all potholes (aka PotMap). Also autopilot would avoid the pothole automatically. Finally, if you're not using autopilot, a warning would chime if a pothole is coming.

Add the ability to anticipate speed limit changes

When you're driving on Autopilot and the speed limit changes, the car will either:

- charge into a lower speed zone at high speed before recognizing the new limit and slowing down (unsafe and liable to get you a ticket), or

- keep going slowly into a higher speed zone before recognizing the new limit and speeding up (frustrating for other drivers).

Where speed limit changes are done by geolocation, it should possible... more »

Free FSD weekend trending idea

I think a lot of us who don't have FSD are interested in the option, but are worried the benefits might not be worth the price. My idea is to have "Free-FSD Week" where all tesla's on the road would be enabled to try FSD for a week. This could also be coordinated with a release of new FSD features or biannually. Not only would this give experience to drivers, but also may encourage many more people to purchase FSD.

Automatic turn signals when navigating without an autopilot

If you have not activated the autopilot but the navigation is active (e.g. to work, or to your home, which is automatically activated), it would be very pleasant if at least the indicators were activated automatically. The vehicle knows where you want to go and where you are most likely to go for a long time and so the vehicle could carry out the annoying turn signal operation even if the autopilot is not activated (e.g.... more »

Tesla needs to detect cars stopped/slowing down ahead earlier

While on autopilot the Tesla needs to start braking way earlier than it currently does. At red lights in particular it keeps on the accelerator way too long and then slams the Regen and/or brakes to hard to stop.

The car should gently let off the accelerator early if it detects a stopped car ahead anticipating it having to do a full stop. The gradual slow down instead of a jerky last second stop will make people feel... more »
